When Size Matters: Boat Lift Solar Charging Kits

When it comes to selecting the best size Boat Lift Solar Charging Kit to fit your needs, there are several factors that apply.

Boat Weight

The first criterion in choosing a Boat Lift Solar Charging Kit is the weight of the boat. The heavier the boat, the more energy needed to power the lift.

Voltage 12v or 24v:

Lake Lite offers both 12v and 24v systems, each with specific benefits based on your needs. In general 24v boat lift motors & solar charging kits are more efficient than 12v, however they do require an extra battery and sometimes can cost a little more for smaller boat lifts. On larger boat lifts the cost may be the same for both 12v or 24v so we would recomened 24v whenever possible. Generally speaking the industry is moving quickly to 24v.

Frequency of Use:

The second critical factor in choosing a Boat Lift Solar Charging Kit is frequency of use. Basically, the more often the boat lift is used, the more energy is drained from the battery, so a larger solar panel is needed to replenish the battery power.

Based on the weight of the boat and frequency of use, Lake Lite developed an easy-to-read chart (below) to determine the recommended Boat Lift Solar Charging Kit. Our 12v systems require ONE 12v battery, provide normal lifting speeds, and are slightly lower cost than the 24v systems. By comparison, the 24v systems require TWO 12v batteries, provide 2 times faster lifting speed, and are slightly higher priced than the 12v systems.

Planning:

While our Boat Lift Solar Charging System Sizing Chart may offer several options based on boat weight and frequency of use, we recommend opting for the largest size that your budget allows. Consider the worst case scenario such as higher use during vacations, holidays or weekend parties at the lake. Make sure you have the power when you need it to get on the lake faster!
